Roswell
My name is Roswell, and my pronouns are they/he. I am a bisexual nonbinary Mormon.
The LDS church can be very gendered at times, which creates a difficult environment in the Church for someone who is non-binary.
One of my biggest struggles was with how people are addressed in the LDS. Men are either Brother [LastName] or Elder [LastName], and women are Sister [LastName].
Pronouns: they/he
When church leaders address a group of members, they usually say Brothers and Sisters. This makes me feel excluded and like I'm not a part of the Church. However, in the most recent general conference, several leaders said Brothers, Sisters, and Friends! This was the first time that I had heard a gender-neutral term used since I came out. Being misgendered in the Church still hurts, but that one nice experience helped me be able to see the bright side.
