Gattison

Pronouns: he/him

Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Gattison has been playing the piano, singing, and writing songs since he was twelve. He comes from a rich musical heritage that includes his Aunt, Dorothy Morrison, who was the original singer of the 1960’s hit, “Oh Happy Day”, his uncle, Jerry Combs, who was signed to Warner Brothers Music, and his cousin Levi Seacer Jr, who played guitar for Prince.

Gattison began his musical journey in a small gospel church where he developed a smooth, soulful sound very early in life. In his teenage years, he discovered Electronic Dance Music, and he immediately fell in love with the genre which sparked a journey of developing the right mix of his musical upbringing and his new-found love.

His billboard breakout “Picture Perfect” peaked at #43 on the billboard charts, and his two latest singles, “Be The Truth” & “Transformation” are currently being considered for Grammy nominations.

He recently launched the highly successful, innovative virtual event, called “The Gattison Experience.”

Gattison is a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Prior to coming out, he spent years hiding his true identity while growing up in a conservative Christian household.

He’s a dad to two beautiful children, co-parenting with his best friend to whom he was married for 9 years.

“Center of the Universe”

Track No. 7 — 3:43

In the Jewish and Christian scriptures, Song of Songs is a unique exposition because it references neither religious wisdom, Israelite history, nor the pursuit of God. Sometimes this short book gets explained as an allegory for the Israelites seeking God. But it’s also about two lovers. Not even two married lovers: two young people who are in love.

Queer friendships, chosen family, and queer romance are often forbidden topics in our public discourse. And yet, they reflect some of the dazzling ways in which God loves us. Queer love is a gift from God and a countercultural force for good.

“What we’ve made will far outlive these flesh and bones,” sings Gattison. It’s both a declaration of love and a statement about queer lives. To be queer and to love queerly are not just gifts for the beloved; they’re also gifts for the world – a world in need of rescue from antiquated gender roles, unaffirming expectations, damaging misconceptions of God, and more.

Lyrics

Center of the Universe
by Gattison

VERSE 1
I Look in  your eyes
& I make a wish on those shooting stars
Pull me in
(I just wanna be next to you)

Lived a million lives
& in every one, you won my heart
I give you my all
I just wanna be wrapped in you

PRE CHORUS
What we feel
will far outlive these flesh and bones,
It’ll never die,
we transcend all space and time

HOOK
It goes on and and on
What we have is all I want
It goes on and on
(You know) Our love is the center of the universe
It goes on and on
It’s like a sunrise it can’t be wrong
It goes on and on
You know our love is the center of the universe

VERSE 2
Everyday I’m falling
Caught in your orbit,
You’re caught in mine
This is love
I don’t want this life without you

So many stars have faded
So many don’t make it but here we are
We beat the odds
I know there’s nothing we can’t do

PRE CHORUS 2
What we’ve made
will far outlive these flesh and bones
It’ll never die,
we transcend all space and time
